Week 17 - WTA1000 - Madrid, Spain Clay

Yay! Well done Harriet.

Wins 0-6 6-3 7-6(1)

Chuffed for her it's been a rough patch and always a challenge on this surface.

Fabulous win, especially on an alien surface. Really happy for her.

Weirdly I always feel more confident she can win when she loses the 1st set 6-0 than when she wins the 1st set 6-0.

Also Harriet played a lot of her Junior matches on clay so it's not alien to her, she's just not very good on it.

Hahaha obviously incomparable, but I'm a club player, and I find it easier to bounce back after a bagel or breadstick set than losing a close one... swing far easier, and far more focussed

Timofeeva held to take the set 6-4, but Harriet leads 3-0* second set.

Harriet had two individual break points for *4-0 but missed them and was then broken from *40-15.

3-2*

Great hold there, Harriet

And Timofeeva has played some truly dire shots in the last 10 mins
