GB team announced...

Boulter, Raducanu, Kartal, Dart, Nicholls - and, for the first time for around 15 years, no Watson.

Barring injury I think Heather might have played her last match for GB.

I do wonder if Jodie would have got the nod ahead of Sonay before this week.

What a run from Heather - 15 years! Great to see Sonay in the squad.

So Anne Keothavong has decided that Dart-Nicholls is our strongest pairing. Not surprising, after Nicholls-Watson had a poor match in Malaga.

Interesting that none of our top three players play doubles so let's hope Harriet stays fit.

Anne should be keeping an eye on Maia and Emily A who are our next two top doubles players, both ranked inside the top 100, who might be a better prospect as backup players.

Didnt Katie play doubles with Liv in a recent BJK match or is that a figment of my imagination?

Boulter rarely plays doubles. She did win two rounds with Hev at the Olympics.

As it happens they have been drawn to play each other in the 1st round of qualifying in Miami.

Emma and Rus both withdrew today.

I mean Emma could have done with two matches on clay let's be honest, regardless of her being at #2 giving us a great boost for the team.

On clay I've no idea who you call up. Is there any point having Jodie or Heather warm the bench? Fran if she's recovered is probably a better shot to add singles cover for Katie/Sonay.

The reports seem to indicate that she might be skipping Rouen as well?

Has to be Fran on clay (if healthy enough)!

Yes she is according to the BBC. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/articles/cj45v29j92jo

Swiatek also confirmed today she is not playing for Poland for similar reasons: preparing for clay season. Such a shame for the competition.

I don't think questions on Fran's fitness to play needs to be answered to be selected. Her knowledge and skill of playing on clay will be extremely valuable in practice sessions, in suggesting plays during the ties and I'm sure she'd be an excellent motivator.
