That control for USA over Australia didn't last and Australia ended up winning the final doubles in an MTB, and so winning the match. That is the only seeding upset of the day, but it is in Britains group. and it also means USA and Australia are to be worried about now, if we lose to USA, then we have to beat Australia. So it complicates things, on balance.
In the juniors, 6 of the teams have girls in their line up, whereas 2 teams, incl GB, don't have any girls.
In today's action, those teams with girls all played each other and the 2 girls played head to head in each match. Not sure if this was luck or whether it is designed for the girls to play head to head; or what will happen when the all boy's teams (GB and Oz who played each other today) play a team with a girl player and how those match ups will work.
Last years event, the players / teams were almost exclusively boys, despite being badged as a mixed event (like the quad event is), making it very interesting this year to see how the girls get on versus the boys if, and when, they meet.
MEN - all results with seedings. GB beat Sri Lanka (not without Ben Bartram getting taken to 3 sets, a bit more of a struggle than anticipated)

In day two action:
our men play Brazil in what could be a decider on who progresses to the semis, big match
Our women have a rest day
our quad team play Australia in another big match, win and we progress to the semis.
our junior team play Brazil - again, win and we proceed.
all our teams have big matches tomorrow, good luck to all.
The second days play is nearing an end and the results are coming through. I will round them up event by event.
Juniors first - very successful day as Team GB upset Brazil to go top of the group, excellent result with Ruben Harris leading the way again. In the other Group, A, USA also upset Belgium at the top of the group
JUNIOR - USA and Britain lead the groups; Britain will be top regardless if they are using H2H as the first determiner, as will USA in the other group. That makes Belgium v Japan and Brazil v Australia as straight winner takes all ties to join us and USA in the semis. Britain should play the winner of the Belgium v Japan match in the semis stage
Group A: Belgium 1, USA 2, Japan 1, France 0 - Belgium beat France, USA beat Japan; Day 2 Japan beat France, USA beat Belgium
Group B: Brazil 1, Great Britain 2, Australia 1, Germany 0 GB, beat Australia, Brazil beat Germany; Day 2 - Australia beat Germany, GB beat Brazil

To answer a question I posed yesterday, Brazils second player was Vitoria Miranda, the worlds top girl player, and she beat Matthew Knoesen, our number two boy. Good to see mixed play and Miranda is obviously a strong player.
In the Quad event, results went with seedings today, and GB beat Australia, always going to be a tough battle, and a good win.
QUAD
Group A: Netherlands 2, Brazil 1, Japan 1, Turkiye 0 - NL beat Turkiye, Brazil beat Japan; Day 2 NL beat Brazil, Japan beat Turkey
Group B: Great Britain 2, USA 1, Australia 1, Colombia 0 - GB beat Colombia, Australia beat USA; Day 2 GB beat Australia, USA beat Colombia
It leaves NL and GB leading the group. No one is safe yet though, GB play USA in their final round robin match and a loss could still see us fail to progress; Australia should beat Colombia to put the pressure on us. In the other Group, A, NL play Japan in similar situation with Brazil playing Turkiye. Still not sure why the host nation Turks lost their best players and field a weakened team, they would have been a big challenger here.
If final group matches go to plan, we should play Brazil in the semis.
In the women's, GB had a rest day as all day one winners sat the day out. No upsets here and all tomorrows matches will effectively be quaterfinal between the top 2 in each group
WOMEN
Group A: Netherlands 1, Colombia 1, Turkiye 0 - NL beat Turkiye; Day 2 Colombia beat Turkiye
Group B: Japan 1, Switzerland 1, Thailand 0 - Japan beat Thailand; Day 2 Switzerland beat Thailand
Group C: Great Britain 1, Brazil 1, Tanzania 0 - GB beat Tanzania; Day 2 Brazil beat Tanzania
Group D: France 1, Germany 1, Morocco 0 - France beat Morocco; Day 2 Germany beat Morocco
For Britain, that means a match with Brazil, who we have met several times this week! GB should be just favourites but it will be close
Finally, the mens. Great day for GB, our lads upset Brazil and, as a result (and if I am right it is decided on H2H results) then GB will top our group and progress to the semis. If not right, and it is on match wins/losses or sets won and lost, then we should still win tomorrow to make sure.
Japan also are in the same position and top Group A, and after an upset win, Chile are top of Group B and look like they will proceed!
MEN
Group A: Japan 2, USA 1, Colombia 0, Thailand 1 - Japan beat Thailand, USA beat Colombia; Day 2 Japan beat USA, Thailand beat Colombia
Group B: Netherlands 1, Chile 2, Spain 1, Iraq 0 - NL beat Iraq, Chile beat Spain; Day 2 Chile beat NL, Spain beat Iraq,
Group C: France 2, Poland 1, Germany 1, Morocco 0 - France beat Morocco, Germany beat Poland; Day 2 France beat Germany, Poland beat Morocco
Group D: Brazil 1, Great Britain 2, Sri Lanka 1, Turkiye 0 - Brazil beat Turkiye, GB beat Sri Lanka; Day 2 Sri Lanka beat Turkey; GB beat Brazil
The event as a whole has had 7 seeding upsets in 40 matches played, if we get 3 or 4 more tomorrow, it is the Men's where that is most likely to happen.
So far, GB have done well, v well. Through in the mens, against seeding expectations. Top of the quad group, top of the womens with a straight play off to determine if we go through and also top of the juniors group. So through to the semis in 2 of the 4 events, well placed in the other two. If we get all 4 through, that will be one better than I expected, courtesy of the men. But let's see how tomorrow plays through
Reading the LTA report, it suggests that GB arent safe at the top, so standings cant be decided on head to head, rather matches and sets won and lost etc. nonetheless, if GB win their last matches in each format, they will progress
