Quad - qualies - Greg Slade plays Q1, Leandro Pena from Brazil Womens - qualies - Cornelia Oosthuizen is Q2 and plays Charlotte Fairbank of South Africa
Quad singles main draw - Andy Lapthorne is unseeded and has drawn a qualifier (the qualies is a 4 player draw and one win takes a player through)
Womens singles - Lucy Shuker was a wildcard and has drawn a fellow non seed in Montjane of South Africa
Mens singles - Gordon is unseeded and plays a tough opener against Belgiums former champ Joachim Gerard. Alfie is seeded 2 and also has a tough opener versus Frenchman, Stephane Houdet - Houdet is 54 and may well be the oldest player taking park in any event at this AO?
Both the Brits in qualies lost in straight sets. Main draw singles begins tomorrow. Doubles draws out as well, include Alfie/Gordon (top seeds), Andy with Sam Shroder (second seed) and Lucy will also be playing ( womens doubles draw not posted yet)
Quad singles main draw - Andy Lapthorne is unseeded and has drawn a qualifier, Argentine Lazarte, in round one
Doubles draws:
Quad doubles - Andy and Schroder are seeded 2 and play Cayulef (Chile) and Lazarte (Arg - again, also plays Andy in singles)
Womens doubles - Lucy and Japanese Kamiji are seeded 2 and play Cabrillana (Chile) and Takamuro (Jap) in round one
Mens doubles - Alfie and Gordon are seeded one and play Japanese Arai and Miki
Singles are all 16 player draws and all Brits are in action tomorrow, Tuesday
Doubles are 8 pair fields and action starts later in the week
All singles and doubles players in action tomorrow: last 8 of each event
Quad singles - Andy plays second seed Niels Vink - Vink is almost certainly too strong for Andy
Quad doubles - Andy and Sam Schroder (seeded 2) play Cayulef and Lazarte
Womens doubles - Lucy and Kamiji (seeded 2) play Cabrillana and Takimuro
Mens singles - Alfie (Seeded 2) plays Spaargaren; Gordon (unseeded) plays Gustavo Fernandez (seeded 4)
Mens doubles - Alfie and Gordon (seeded 1) play Arai and Miki
We should hope to win all the doubles and Alfie win his singles, disappointing if we dont. Gordon has a chance but will be big underdog and Andy will be a big, big underdog!
Mens singles - Alfie
Mens doubles - Alfie and Gordon
Womens doubles - Lucy
Quad doubles - Andy
Which is totally in line with seedings. In wheelchair tennis, there are always less upsets than the main draw events, partly depth being the issue but also partly the immense capability of the very top players. Nonetheless, youve got to live up to the seeding, so well done to all so far.
Mens singles - Alfie won 3 and 3 over Fernandez and plays Oda in the final
Mens doubles - Alfie and Gordon won 4 and 4 and play unseeded Caverzaschi (Spain) and Houdet (France) in the final
Quad doubles - Andy and Sam Schroder won 1 and 2 and play top seeds Sasson (Israel) and Vink (NL) in the final
Lucy is currently 5 all first set in her doubles semi.
For the finals , Oda looks like he is in sparkling form, so Alfie will face a real uphill battle and be a decent sized underdog. Andy and Sam are second seeds but Sasson and Vink will go in as clear favourites. Alfie and Gordon, though, will be clear favourites in the mens doubles final, heavy favourites against the unseeded pair. Alfie and Gordon, as often the case, are probably our best chance of a title, alongside Henry and Harri in the main draw mens doubles
So, just the three finals to follow, not quite sure what the schedule is and if all take place tomorrow- will find out later, when the schedule is posted.
