An excellent win for Lucy in her opener today, 3 tough sets against a player in Cabrillana who has had her number. Cornelia on the edge of going out though.
Congrats to Gordon Reid as he wins the series 2 warm up event at College Park. This is Gordons first singles title in 2 1/2 years so he will be very pleased with that. He may have been top seed but a title is still something to be proud of.
Singles - Greg Slade (WR 8) plays Leandro Pena (WR 12) of Brazil; Pena won their last match in April in 3 sets. Promises to be a close match.
Andy Lapthorne (WR 5) plays South African Donald Ramphadi (WR9). Andy has the head to head lead although its 2 years since they last met, in this event
Doubles - Greg is with Aussie Jin Woodman and Andy is seeded 2 with David Wagner of the US.
Womens:
Singles - Lucy Shuker (WR 15) plays Diede De Groot (WR11) of the NL. Not back to her best after injury setbacks, De Groot is one of the all time best and holds a 19-4 H2H over Lucy, including 1 and 1 at Wimbledon this year.
Doubles - Lucy is with Jiske Griffioen of the NL.
Mens:
Singles - Gordon Reid (WR5) plays Spaniard Daniel Caverzaschi (WR 9). Gordon has an 8-0 head to head although they havent played in over 12 months
Alfie Hewett (WR2) plays Charlie Cooper (WR 43) and a wildcard
Doubles - Alfie and Gordon play Cooper and fellow American Conner Stroud.

it struck me, a decent moment of the events left are in France and, over a whole season, France has a good share of the tour played there. They dont really have many top players (Houdet in the men, a couple of women around the slams entry lists) so must just really love hosting and watching their sports over there.
US Open starts today and they are doing it the other way around to the main draws. They start with doubles only today, singles will then start tomorrow and run Wed through Saturday (4 rounds, 1 each day). Not sure of the doubles schedule amongst that but todays openers are all the QF stage (8 pair drawers):
1st match (4 pm BST) - Lucy and Griffioen versus Phelps and Takamuro (women's)
2nd match (est around 5.10pm). - Andy and Wagner (2) versus Cayulef and Lazarte (quad)
Also 2nd match (est around 5.10pm)- Greg and Woodman versus Davidson and Shaw (quad)
3rd match (est around 6.20pm) Alfie and Gordon (1) versus Cooper and Stroud (men's)
