At Bolton today, Lucy Shuker professed to the last 8, but Ben Bartram lost in the mens singles
In the quad event, Greg Slade beat Gary Cox to move to the semis. But the performance of the day and maybe if his lifetime was by Oliver Cox! Ranked 35, he beat top seeded world number 11 and former world number 1, David Wagner. Wagner is an all time great and Oli beat him in two tough sets.
Fabulous win and hope Oli can go on and build on it in the semis
two fabulous results in the Bolton event; Oliver Cox followed up his win yesterday over top seeded Wagner with another upset over the 4th seeded German, Marcus Laudan, ranked 12 places higher than Oli.
And also into the final is 3rd seeded compatriot, Greg Slade, who upset 2nd seeded Bogdanov of the USA.
So Greg and Oli go head to head in the final, big match for both of them - Greg is seeded 3 (Oli unseeded) and Greg much higher ranked; they have never played before, but a final to look forwards to.
In the womens, top seeded Lucy Shuker was beaten in the last 8, her poor singles form continues
Oli has never won the series 3 level before. A bit like Challenger level; Greg has won a couple at this level and is defending champion here; hes also won a series 2 event in France, a bit like winning at ATP250 level.
The Series 2 event in Bolton starts tomorrow, entries include:
Mens singles - 4 Brits (Penney, Johns, Ward, Bartram) in a field of 24 with 6 top 20 players entered
Womens singles - 16 players in this draw with Shuker, Breakwell, Oosthuizen and Bishop from the Brits. Lucy is top seed again this week and 3 of the top 20 are playing. The field is effectively the same as last weeks Series 3 event.

Quad singles - Greg Slade won but Oli Cox couldnt reprise his win over David Wagner from the series 3 event and lost in two sets. Quad doubles - Oli and Gary playing Richard , just started

Apologies , I missed Ben Bartram who is in the mens singles last 8.
remaining Brits after today are:
mens singles and doubles - Ben Bartram
womens doubles - Lucy Shuker
quad singles - Greg Slade,
quad doubles - Greg + and Richard Green +
worthy of note - both Ben and Greg caused minor seeding upsets in their last matches, Ben beating the 8th seed ter Hofte to reach the last 8 unseeded, Greg beating 4th seed Masaryk to reach the quad semis.

In the singles, the two Brits still in are acquitting themselves well at this stage;
In the mens singles, Ben Bartram is 4-6 4-2 against second seeded Casey Ratzlaff. Ben is ranked 25 and the American is ranked 12
In the quad singles, Greg Slade is 5-1 up in the first set on top seeded Diego Perez, of Chile. Perez is ranked 10 and Greg is 19; Greg won the lower level series 3 event last week at this same venue and is doing amazingly to be so far ahead at this stage
