This is confusing. Skupski already selected so the assumption must be that Patten will partner him, RH & LH combo seemed effective and Patten the form player. Perhaps Cash & Glasspool could be hitting partners and even travel to Japan with the squad, unnamed at this point. It does look like Draper won't be fit and it would be a big risk anyway. After Flushing Meadows, Draper was poor in Manchester and Smith would only want an 100% Draper if he is to sacrifice a dubs player and potential partnership. I'd be amazed if Cash, Glasspool or both are selected ahead and Skupski dropped.

LPats on this board ( I think Henry's cousin or brother, not sure which?!) thinks Henry wont be playing DC, you may have seen the posts) but it isnt certain - that was the pre AO thinking apparently, whether it has changed, he wasnt sure.

And with Lloyd and Julian in Melbourne still, they are clearly in the running/thinking.

Suspect Leon is still finalising things!

Cam and Jake and Billy look certainties for the squad at least, so only a couple of unknowns!

Haha I can confirm younger brother. You got it right in another post, my name is Louis. Obviously Neal and Joe over Lloyd and Julian which I don't agree with but having essentially 7 top players to pick from is a very nice problem to have in the doubles scene. I rate Skupski highly and really hope that they both pull it together and maybe kickstart their partnership (If anything it's another weeks training for them as a pair with Louis Cayer. They're still top top players and Joe is obviously a doubles legend so they just need to find their form.

Just a heads up The Tennis Channel are showing the DC tie from Friday.

Normally £25 for the year but if you put in code LTA10 when signing up you can get it for a tenner.

Japan are many hours ahead, so most of the matches with be in the middle of the night UK time - hence the discounted prices....

You can usually watch GB matches for free on Tennis Channel, that is available in the bundled FAST channels if you have a Samsung or LG TV.

Giles Hussey is called into the GB squad..
There is a YouTube clip of interviews and I think it was Salisbury who stated the hard court is fast.

Giles feels like a random call-up. Any ideas why? Because he's a lefty, maybe? Good for him, whatever the reason!

Wow, just seen the news re Giles Hussey , good for him but, yes, feels random. Can see why they would maybe go for him over Jan, if court is fast, but trying to think if someone else might have been a better choice? I guess they cant be mid event eg in Glasgow and get called up, so would count all those players out?

Jan is poorly otherwise I believe it would've been him.

Assuming they're only there in case our top 2 are injured, they might as well go for Liam who has experience he can pass on even if his current form isn't up to snuff

And in case one does get injured you do want the best available back-up player in the official squad. Liam or anyone else can still play an unofficial part.

Saw Giles Hussey a few years back and he is sorry to say this nothing special he must be near by strange pick I think.
The Japenese have areally good team and unless Jake continues to. improve I just cannot see him or Harris troubling Nishikiori. In fact I will be amazed if we win a singles match
