Giles Hussey? Did about 10 players turn it down?

What are the timings around this? I know it starts tomorrow but presumably that is sometime our early or mid morning?

My feeling is a 3-1 singles win to Japan - do they play doubles then? Ie doubles would be redundant in the case of a 3-1 win?

edit - I see doubles is 3rd match, so 3-2 is my guess

Argentina at Norway started tonight - first rubber lasted 3 hours 52 mins for 3 sets. Blimey. Sapping.

I suppose Giles was just there already as the lefty hitting partner and when Jan became ill there was no one else geographically convenient.

They would be limited to who was available to call up with last minute notice as many of the alternatives have played a tournament this week so I don't think would be eligible to play Davis Cup as well. JoMo is entered in a Challenger next week with a College Accelerator and so I imagine wants to be as fresh as possible to not waste the limited CAs he has by being tired off the back of a long flight.

Thats a shame but not unexpected. Jake has started brightly and has an early break at 3-1 over Nishikori

First set to Jake, 6-3. Not able to watch and cant see any live text commentary on the bbc or anywhere, but from scores alone, Jake seems in control so far

3 and 3, well done Jake, really good win that - 1 all after day one, got to hope Jake can beat Nishioka now - going to be on that doubles it seems!

Win that first thing tomorrow and Jake is then gunning for the overall victory - which would end up being impressive if we do it.

Jake was so impressive. His backhand was on fire, and was in control against a player of Nishikori's pedigree
