Weeks 3 & 4 - Australian Open - Main Draw - Melbourne (Hard)

Garbage tiebreaker after all that work but has the break in the second.

6-7(3) 3-1*

Double break up, *4-1

She just lost the first set so that I could then get decent odds ( 2/1 ) for my latest little investment.

You backing a three set win, Indy? Or to just take second set?

For the 3 set win at 2/1.

I could no doubt cash out for some profit ( I could now ) earlier, but I reckon I'll stick with her for the duration. She's a fighter.

 Fingers crossed!

Katie really creating her own demise here. She's the better player but can't string it together and is giving Kudmertova far too much time and easy points. Poor game to be broken and she looks lost.

2-4* final set.

Too central, too short, too passive. Had a break point early in the set and although Kudmertova saved it well, Katie really allowed it to get in her head and it's not been great tennis since.

*2-5

Needs to find something or she's going home early in a Grand Slam *again*.

Atrocious finish from Katie. Pit patting the ball up the middle, short with high bounce and the russian just tees off for fun. A dead net cord rubs salt into the wounds. A pushed second serve match point down is given the treatment it deserved.

Really disappointing performance again from Katie in a Grand Slam sadly. She just gets totally in her own head and can relax into her tennis.

Ugh.

Katie cant shake the monkey off her shoulder. Sports psychologist needed?

That is a shame, felt she had turned that around in set 2.

Katie has never had a run at a "big" tournament. Her record across Slams and 1000s is terrible. She needs to address that to move into the top 20. Plenty of opportunities to do so this season.

Well it could have/should have been better, but for what it's worth here is a comparison of points won last year against this year. Better or matched last year

No negative territory ?

That's great

(Although, yes, that wasn't a great match from Katie )

Nice table, the addict
