Weeks 3 & 4 - Australian Open - Melbourne, VIC, Australia (hard)

Just got in after a long day out, having left before Jake and Jack started their matches, and I am thrilled by these results. Especially Jake's!

I don't think it's likely to happen but it would be wonderful if Jake could beat the repulsive Zverev.

Jack apparently "channelled", as the now very popular jargon term goes, his inner Ange Postecoglou (the article explains the allusion/reference) as a way of dealing with the hostility of the home crowd.  It's perhaps worth noting that Melbourne has the largest Greek-speaking population in the world outside Greece & Cyprus, such that it's sometimes referred to as Greece's "third city" (after Athens & Thessaloniki), & Greek football in particular currently has a bit of a hooliganism problem...

SC you have your rounds a bit confused. It needs to be L128, L64, L32 and definitely no L96. smile

Figures have never been my forte...    All the references in my own posts now corrected (I think).

Upset his brother too.  He was going to play doubles with his brother but pulled out to focus on Singles.

Except that Petros eventually got in as an ALT alongside Damir Dzumhur in the slot vacated by Cam & Marcus.  wink

Ironically Cam and Marcus's opponents also pulled out.

Fearnley second on Margaret Court arena, with Jack last on the same court.

Big show court for both- great opportunity for Jake to play on a big court!

Tennis abstract may have rated Sinner a 99.5% win chance but hes lost the first set against Schoolkate!

3 am finish for Tien. Great win for him, although Medvedev appears to be super flaky right now, first round he was all over the place.

Fonseca lost in 5 sets to Sonego, so Tien looking like the NextGen player to follow as this event progresses.

Looks like Jake put up a good showing but Zverev had too much for him as he won in straight sets. Well done for Jake on this week.

I watched 3 games at the start of the third set.  Zverev's level was very, very high.  It has still been a good tournament for Jake.
