It seems that Jack retired after losing the first two sets.  Clearly, the 5 setters have had an impact on his body.  I'd be interested to know whether it was general fatigue or something more specific.

Have a great Suinday everyone!

It appears it was his ongoing hip problem, and he is now going to take a few weeks off to try and sort it out before Indian Wells.

Exactly what I would have recommended.

Beeb report.  Describes the hip problem as a "ticking time bomb".   cry

A more detailed analysis of the problem from the Beeb.

Well Novak beats Carlos in 4, despite a pretty poor first serve percentage in the last set. First person he goes to over to is Andy, who seems a little passive. Maybe up too late!

I find it so hard rooting against a player Andy is currently so involved with. But given that player is Djokovic, it's compulsory.

Once again fakes injury when losing and picks imaginary fights with the crowd before playing amazing tennis. Predictable and annoying.

I'm more interested in whether Nojo went over to Andy after the first set and what might have been said to turn it around.

Oh yes for sure it was Andy's coaching that made the difference.

Didn't see this result coming at all.

Andy looked calm out there and Novak clearly really respects what he has been able to get from Andy here; Novak has a heck of a battle to win this though, Zverev and Sinner to come, probably. If Andy can help him over the line, that would be impressive. And he could.

Im actually staying at Andys hotel in Dunblane next week, Monday and Tuesday. My wife got me a voucher 2 years ago and we eventually booked it before our daughter finishes at Uni in Edinburgh, so looking forward to that - if the coming storm isnt too bad!

Never thought I'd be kinda rooting for Nojo, but I do want Andy to be successful.

Nice, I'd appreciate any insider pics please.

Interesting ending to the Ben Shelton Press conference where he criticised some of the comments and questions made by the tv interviewers on court.

I posted this interview with Kim from the Style section of The Sunday Times of 7th May 2023 on Andy's dedicated thread.  It is largely concerned with the revamp of Cromlix, so naturally includes a few photos of the place.  I agreed at the time with Andy that her taste in wallpaper is a "bit bizarre", as I really don't like dark colours used in décor (to the extent that the ones she's chosen would probably keep me awake rather than lull me to sleep!), finding them as oppressive as rococo architecture, can't stand "fussy" furniture, am not carried away with the food on offer & would object to paying the prices charged for an overnight stay.

It was reviewed by The Times on 29th February last year.  Again there are pictures (some of them duplicated) & my view hasn't changed.  wink  Curiously, reader comments on the article weren't allowed for some reason.

I guess many of those things are taste so wont really comment; weve booked the restaurant one night, a la carte not the tasting menu, which was pricier!

room rates - they do a dynamic pricing thing so it varies by day and when you book. we booked a cottage room, which is the standard room level and for a Monday and Tuesday and prices werent terrible. Week day was cheaper as weekend is when the demand pushes prices up, and the voucher we bought two years ago was still valid and covered one night. So mentally it felt like we are getting two nights for one! Prices compared well with an Edinburgh room of a similar nature, but clearly you arent in Edinburgh, its a good drive down but through very pretty countryside.

the hotel to me is very comfortable, I like the decor personally but that is taste. The service so far has been good - we got a call one month and then one week out to check all was ok, confirm our details and check anything we needed which most hotels even at 5 star (I think this is officially 4?) wouldnt do.
