Disappointing for Lloyd and Julian but still a very successful tournament for them. Have been watching them a fair bit this tourney and Lloyd has been on seriously good form. Krawietz and Pütz are the in form pair so it's not too surprising that they won, hopefully they don't play quite so well tomorrow wink. I'd be baffled if Neal and Joe were picked above these two in the Davis Cup qualies.

Agreed, Lloyd and Julian definitely over Joe and Neal; Neal and Dan though, might still be an option?

Where is Henry at in terms of DC? Is he definitely out based on above comment or is he still an option to play with Neal?

So as far as I know Henry won't be in the DC match this time around but admittedly this info was from the start of the Aus open. As far as I'm still aware Henry likely won't be playing. Personally I don't understand the whole Dan side of things, he's been a great part of the GB team but he's nowhere near the level of any of the top guys doubles wise, whether that's Neal Joe Lloyd etc. I love him and he brings so much energy into the game but I'd be amazed if someone was snubbed the chance to play DC in place of Dan. Again that is just my opinion and fully understand if others think he should be playing.

I think Dan makes sense historically if you want him for singles as well, as an option. Right now his form is so poor, surely he cant be an option and you wouldnt just bring him for doubles.

if Henry is out, it seems to come down to Lloyd/Julian and Neal/Joe and I know where i would go with that. I hope Henry can be an option though.

Indeed, Dan would make no sense at all now in a 5 man squad.

We have 3 singles players and we have doubles players in form.

I'd take Dan as an extra (ie not in the 5) - just as practice partner and cheerleader.

And Henry is up to live WR4, too, which encapsulates what a wacky and brilliant 18-24 months he's had. Truly meteoric. So glad I stayed up until 1:30am for that.
