Boys & Girls: Tennis Europe U14 Category 1 Junior International, Bolton, indoor acrylic (week 3)

Disappointingly Grace was the only Brit to win today in the main draw singles, and she has the strong top seed to get past to progress further.

Girls QF

(1) Darina Matvejeva (LAT) v Grace Watson

After that impressive win we have just 1 seed left - the Japanese fifth, who Grace plays tomorrow. She is joined by her compatriot, who ousted Liv, and an American

Girls SF

Grace Watson v (5) Sakino Miyazawa (JPN)

Allez, Gracie !

Im not saying i expected it (because I didnt) but Im not that surprised. If that makes sense!

Megan has lost 2/2 encounters against Darina

Daniella has lost 3/3 encounters against Darina

Grace, in my opinion, defends better than the other 2 and I wonder if that was the deciding factor today.

Shina Okuyamu - the other Japanese girl left in the draw - looks like a name to watch. She is 2012 born and was given a wildcard into qualifying (so someone rates her)
Shes proved she deserved it, coming through qualifying and beating the 2nd seed (Liv) on her way to the semi finals. Even if her run ends tomorrow thats a very good effort at a category 1

Young Shina continues to shine - a real shiner, in fact

She's just won her semi-final in two sets

Grace also lost 3-6 3-6 today

So there's two Japanese girls in the final
