So, a little revision to the schedule:

Updated schedule:

PoS Wildcard Nominations - window for nominations between Tuesday 2nd December and Wednesday 17th December 2025.

Dec PoM Vote - dates to be confirmed but currently will take place Sunday 28th December - Tuesday 30th December (after end of week 52) - 4 weeks nomination process.

PoS Wildcard Vote - Tuesday 30th December to Friday 2nd Jan 2026. R1 vote - players split into 2 groups and tbd if we have one or two rounds of voting depending on number of wildcards we are voting for

PoS Round One Vote - Saturday 3rd - Monday 5th Jan 2026

PoS Semi Final Vote - Tuesday 6th - Thursday 8th Jan 2026

PoS Final - Friday 9th to Sunday 11th Jan 2026 2026

And that will take us neatly into the start of the Australian Open 2026 (which starts on the 12th January!)

January 2026 PoM nominations will also open for business early in January 26.

The 2026 schedule will be posted once Player of the Season is all done and dusted and I have chance to work it all out

So, just been taken by surprise to see that there is a week 53 in 2025 season, starting 29th December.

To clarify - most of the event is actually in January 26 and the finals weekend clearly in January 26. Therefore week 53 from the ITF perspective will be included towards the January PoM process (and therefore towards the 2026 PoS process).

There are only 4 players entered, but the presence of a week 53 did surprise me and I wanted to make sure folks understand how it aligns with how we do things.

Maybe Player of the Season could get changed to Player of the Year to be even clearer, and to totally align - but it is semantics!

Fair dos.

As has to happen every 5 or 6 years due to the vagaries of the calendar, the ATP and WTA tours are kicking off on 05/01/26, by date 6 days later ( rather than the normal 1 day earlier ) compared to this season's 30/12/24 start.

As far as I know we have always aligned our weeks ( for entry and tournament threads ) with these ATP/ WTA schedules, hence the week 53 entries for week beginning 29/12/25.

No reason though you can't kick that week into January 2026 for PoM / PoS purposes, not as you say that much is going to be happening in that week anyway.

Yeah, it just took me by surprise. But, as per, it is largely in January and aligns with our January PoM process. It just creates a slight anomaly and I didnt want anyone to call foul on that.

For our players taking part that week, they may get a fast start towards January 2026 PoM!

I knew the ATP/WTA seasons started w.c. 5/1, I just wasnt sure what the ITF would call that week and if there was an overall alignment or decision maker in tennis on how we number weeks!

I dont think it really matters, though. And I am guessing no one else had spotted it previously or cared enough to raise it?!

With it being Xmas period, New Year and work and travel also, the exact time of votes going live and finishing on any given day will depend on my exact schedule, so please keep a look out.

If youre a last minute voter type, please note the close dates in particular.

This is a summary of the votes placed in the 2025 PoM votes

Votes placed 2025
37 Jan
40 Feb
35 Mar
38 Apr
34 May
42 Jun
45 Jul
35 Aug
38 Sep
37 Oct
42 Nov
42 Dec
38.750 -11.62%

The average is 38.750, the last two months have seen a little uptick to 42 in both months. However, the 38.750 is 11.6% down on last season, just over 5 votes per month. It is back around the 2023 voting average, in fact, just lower than that.

The last two months are encouraging, however, and look forward to some good and interesting votes in the Player of the Season votes!

With my travel plans Ive updated the schedule slightly for the PoS voting this week:

Round one vote - going on currently and will close Monday morning.

Semis - will start Tuesday morning and close Thursday evening, probably around 7 pm

Final - will start Friday morning and close Sunday evening. probably around 7 pm as I will be 5 1/2 hours ahead and I will tie in the close with my ending work for the day.

Thanks to Indy for the feedback.

Personally, I certainly don't think you should have the final closing on an early morning ( with folk asleep / getting their day underway and limited voting over the final hours ) and possibly not morning at all.

Seeing how it all unwinds at the end, especially if close, strikes me as better happening later in the day UK time. Anyway, clearly up to you, Jon..

Hi Indy - no I agree - my issue is I will be 5 1/2 hours ahead and so Ill miss out on an evening finish as Ill be asleep. I know you said youll close it for me, which is appreciated and still desired, I was just being a little selfish.

lets go with evenings.
