Anna did expect to win, but played a very stiff and nervous first set. The second set she was replaced by a clone who played more freely.
The Eva V Hanne match was not great. It was a nervous affair full of errors and poor movement. Hanne was a break up twice in the third set and should have won. Yes it was a surprise, but both will be at home on clay and not hard. Eva did not look comfortable.
Fab is the stronger player, just some mishaps allowed Olly to take the lead in rankings.
Fab is stronger than Aidan. Aidan had a kind draw to start.
Breanna had a kind draw and is not as strong as Kelly. I expect Eva to beat Andriana.

Thanks Annas dad - with so few ranking events, I guess its easy for the seedings to mislead those who dont know. Good luck to all in the semis and in their doubles matches later as well!

Yes, a bad draw, or a bad match can really confuse things. Dominic from GB, who is not here, is similar to Fab in level. Olly is ahead of both in rankings because he played the AO last year and got to the final. He also avoided Archie Graham to reach the final of the World Games. Where Archie won very easily. Fab just had a bad match along the way in Annecy and lost a match that he was winning easily. Ranking points from this Oz Open will help keep Olly ahead of Dominic. Fab should reach the final, so will pull a lot of points back in the race to be the no 1 GB player.
There are the remaining two doubles tomorrow and a singles. The singles final will be on Sunday.

Hope it will be a treble double. As Anna won both in 2023 and 2024
Fingers crossed!
realistically, has Fabrice got a chance of one of the titles?
also, struck me, has there ever been a team championship in this category. Id have thought you could put a man and woman together to play two singles and a mixed doubles for GB, Australia and France and have an interesting world team event - any other countries that could make it a 4 Team event?

I expect Archie and Fab to win the doubles. Archie usually proves too much for Fab in the singles. So perhaps 2nd, but Fab is not totally without a chance.
The team championships has not been done, yet. But it would be interesting. I think GB would be favourites to win in such a format right now, but things never stay the same.
The women playing at Queens has made it a two week event. The latest is that the courts may not be in a fit condition to run an event like last year. So maybe an event on the Nottingham hard courts around the Nottingham Open. All up in the air right now.
