Thanks Anna's Dad - so, is this the Para Tennis "tour" done now in essence or are there any more events to come that we should be aware of? Or do Anna and the other Brits now play in main stream events for the rest of the year? I know you mentioned Queen's as an exhibition last year and might take place this season, any news on that?

Queens is now a two-week event, so they are unsure how the grass courts will hold up. They talked about an International event in Nottingham, but nothing happened there. So it is mainstream grades 1, 2 and 3 tennis for the rest of the year.
Anna is spending an exchange semester at San Diego State University starting on August 22nd, 2025. She is looking forward to it. However, due to the ridiculous rules, they have decided that Anna is a professional and cannot even train with the University players there. This is probably because Anna wins a non-expenses covering £850 at the OZ Open. This trip has always had a massive financial impact on us and she certainly is not a professional. How many of the good UK Uni players in the US have won money at the British Tours etc? Including most of the players at San Diego. Pretty much all of the good UK players have won prize money. So I think it is a rule that only applies if they can pretend it never happened.
So Anna will have to somehow find some affordable quality tennis training in San Diego, or she will not be competitive for next year's OZ Open.

How ridiculous these amateur rules are. Silly really. Re Anna though, going to San Diego for a few months is a life experience bigger than tennis - so what if the tennis suffers a little for Oz, the experience of being out there will be fabulous!

Yep, it is a developing experience than money cannot buy. So she has to go and she will make the most of it. She has driven the process of going to the US from start to finish. So we are happy for her.

I see Anna and the rest of the team will be honoured at Nottingham next week
"Also in Nottingham, to mark Learning Disability Awareness Week and following their historic success at the 2025 Virtus World Championships, Great Britains Learning Disability tennis team will be honoured on Wednesday the 18th of June, recognising the best-ever result for Great Britain at this event."
The LTA website says:
On Saturday the 28th of June, alongside the finals of the respective wheelchair draws, there will be the first-ever showcase of para-standing tennis at an LTA grass-court event. Showing the breadth of disability tennis available to play, Britains para-standing tennis world champions Matt Grover and Ross Cudmore will play against two wheelchair tennis players who are competing in the ITF event, following which there will be a chance for spectators to have a go at wheelchair tennis themselves.
Para-Standing Tennis
is for people with physical disabilities who play without using a wheelchair.

Thanks, that article took a bit of finding.
Yes, the team were invited, with one doing a match coin toss. I am not sure who is going, but I know the Scottish players will not be able to make it. Except for Anna, who will be there on Wednesday. Hopefully, Anna will get to do the coin toss again, just like she did before that amazing 2023 Davis Cup doubles match in Manchester when Dan Evans and Neil Scupski turned a certain loss into a win over the last 30 minutes https://www.atptour.com/en/news/great-britain-france-davis-cup-2023-september-sunday. Anna is looking forward to seeing her friends in Nottingham, so this is a good excuse to go. Plus, we will get tickets to watch some good grasscourt tennis.
Anna and the two men's finalist from Kazakhstan will be there. Dom and Olly. They will get a mention before the second match on Centre Court begins. Looking forward to seeing some good tennis

How did the Nottingham presentations go for Anna and the two lads, Annas dad?
I see Eastbourne has an exhibition this Saturday of two para standing players against two wheelchair players - para standing is for players with disabilities that dont use a wheelchair

Im not sure of variety of classes in this strand of the sport but the two players playing are Matt Grover and Ross Cudmore versus two of our top wheelchair players, on court 6 just after the wheelchair final on Saturday.
Para tennis has similar categories to athletics, which were missing in tennis. So bringing it into tennis is a welcome development.
The presentation went well. Dom did the toss, and because F Jones took so long rooting through her bag, they had time for all of it. The day was hot and sunny, and the tennis was of very high quality. We saw Cilic get a lucky win over Anderson, who was cruising until his injury. But men's tennis on grass can often result in short points, so we enjoyed the quality women's hard-fought matches more.
Trump has reopened the student visa scheme, but the ridiculous fascist terms and the fact that there is a risk of being grilled for hours at the airport and not being let in, or kidnapped by masked men and deported for little or no reason, make going to the USA a very unsafe, expensive risk. The civil unrest will only increase as they attempt to find a way to cancel or fix the midterms. So Anna has just cancelled her term abroad.
