Week 5 - WTA250 - Singapore, Singapore Hard

Harriet definitely gets one of the tougher Qs. Will be interesting to see how Emma serves, and who is in her coaching box.

It's not great not having a coach when you've been having  serving problems whilst involved in fundamental changes

Emma takes the first set 7-5.

Not all easy sailing, but she did make 73% of her first serve with 5 aces and just 1 DF.

Early break in the deciding set. However she's been broken 5 times in this match so it's not all over yet.

And been broken straight back now.

7-5 5-7 2-1*

Not a match that I have had a great deal of confidence about and would be just happy to see her win ( and someone lose a small unpatriotic bet ).

At least her serve ( if not particularly the service game behind it ) seems to be in reasonable shape.

First serve is doing her well. 66% points won behind 72% in.
Second serve is doing her dirty at just 32% won.

However she is the only one to hold in the third set so far. 3-2 up. (On serve, if that means anything)

Well, not sure she deserves to win based on this performance, and those last 3 games suggest she's not going to. Still time, but needs to find something.

3-4*

She needs to sick at this level and get some wins under her belt instead of thinking that she is playing at WTA500 level and above. I dont think she is. Katie went back to ITFs after her injury and built up her strength over the months. Emma always thinks she can fast track it. Needs more consistancy.

Bucsa plays a very tight game to give Emma the break, but again the pattern is not complicated:

Hits loopy short balls, loses the point.

Flattens the ball out a little with some depth or whip, wins the point.

Goes up *40-15 with better serving then plays three passive rallies. Finds some serves and escapes.

5-4*

Jeezo.
