Boys & Girls: 2025 Tennis Europe Winter Cup (U12/U14/U16)

So the question, Rose, and others, is do you think that the LTA will now summon Hannah, or Hollie?
I believe you can re-jig the team after qualis

Hollie is due to be playing a J200 in Santo Domingo at the same time as the finals. Its a national academy trip (Ruby and Daniella P there too) so not sure about her

I would be surprised if Hannah was interested

As a result of that epic win the under 16 girls qualify for their final in France in 2 weeks time. Tomorrow they take on Hungary for seeding rights.

The under 14 boys struggled against Czechia, so won't make their final. Haqim was the only one to win a set, as they lost 3-0

Tomorrow the remaining qualifying groups take place, including the under 14 girls, who don't include Megan Knight. Instead the team consists of Liv Zingg, Milica Milojevic and Grace Watson. They are top seeds, and play Croatia tomorrow.

That just leaves the under 16 boys, who have an inexperienced team (Ruben Stanmore, Isaac Sallu and Aran Selvaraasan. They take on second seeds Czechia tomorrow.

Nah, I'm sure Hannah wouldn't be interested

But the LTA could easily insist  if they wanted

The under 16 girls continued their winning run, beating Hungary 2-1 with Edie and Dani both winning in straight sets. They will therefore be seeded in their finals in France

The under 14 boys finished 4th in their group after a 3-0 loss to Switzerland. Myles was given an opportunity to play singles, and won a set - the only one the team managed.

The under 14 girls made a strong start with a 3-0 victory against Croatia: Milica and Liv won their singles easily, before Milica and Grace teamed up for a win via a match tiebreak. They play Denmark tomorrow, with the winners qualifying for the finals.

Unsurprisingly the under 16 boys lost to Czechia, but Ruben notched up a straight sets win in the number 1 singles. The 2-1 defeat means they will be playing for the minor places.

The under 14 girls sail into their final. They currently lead Denmark 2-0 after straight sets wins for Grace and Liv, and will play either Switzerland or Romania tomorrow for seeding rights.

The upshot is that two British teams qualify for their finals (U14/U16 girls), two get there as we are hosting (U12 boys/girls) and two miss out (U14/U16 boys). The under 12 finals are next weekend, and the others a week later.

Thanks DavidC - where are the under 12 finals being played, the NTC?

The under 14 girls won their final match against Switzerland 2-1 so will be seeded in their final (Grace lost, Liv won and Grace + Liv won the doubles).

The under 16 boys finished strongly, with 2-1 wins against Finland and Latvia to end in 5th place in their group. The team they lost to (Czechia) won the group.

How highly regarded by the LTA is Matyas Oprchal and in comparison to the other U12 boys selected because he won the Lemon Bowl a few weeks ago and has done well at the Junior Nationals too?

Maty is very highly thought of. Has represented GB in friendlies and has made finals of LTA grade 1s in both singles and doubles. Not sure why he wasnt part of the team but must have been close. Hes ranked 3rd in GB at the moment, above Tomas in 4 who got the place. (Max is ranked first, Cameron 2nd)

Has a sister - Julie - who plays too. A really nice family

The under 12 finals get underway in Sunderland tomorrow. The boys play Romania and the girls face Latvia in what are effectively quarter-finals
