Nice work against the higher ranked and more experienced 23 year old. Second W75 in succession Mimi has successfully come through qualifying. A bit like Henry S. steady progress. Good to see..
R1:- Hanyu Guo (CHN) WR491 [Q] v Mika Stojsavljevic (GBR) WR679/16yo/JR6 [JE]
Ouch, but all good experience. Whatever the outcome Mimi will learn from it and can have a free swing. Looks like she is in qualifying next week in Brisbane as well so maybe hoping for a better draw!.
And not too bad a draw either for a W25 (rankings as at 13/01/25)
L16:- Laquisa Khan (AUS) / Cara Korhonen (AUS) CR2718 (1094+1624)v Mingge Xu (GBR) / Xinxin Yao (CHN) CR823 (292+531)
Even better for a W75 :)
Nice start
Well done Mimi And Xao. Just realised Xao won the last W75 Mimi played at in Thailand, which maybe explains the pairing. Lets hope they can beat the number 3 seeds. I noticed they are both down to play next week as well , wonder if they will double up for the second week?

Assuming the #3 seeds win their first round match tomorrow
Mimi is a top doubles player. I expect them to go deep this week.
Her doubles ranking is still substantially understated.
Agree Paulisi. One of the few British players that seems to be able to play senior singles and doubles at the same tournament. Expecting her to be a mainstay in the doubles in the BJK in a year or two.
It'll be interesting to see how Mimi's career trajectory goes over the next 5 years - does she pursue the doubles specialist route to the top, or try to do both, a bit like Heather has done. She had a great year in the juniors last time, but singles-wise hasn't had that big breakthrough in the pros yet.
And the early exist in this year's junior Aussie Open was a bit disappointing, especially after making the quarters last year.

I am going to stick up for Mimi Shreddie. She is ranked 10 in the WTA under 18 single rankings and has only really just half joined the tour compared to many of the Eastern European girls above her. I always thought she would transition well. Has the stamina and strength to compete. Aussie Open wasnt unexpected. It is no real indication of her strengths and it must be much easier to motivate yourself for seniors than juniors when you see others going past you in the senior rankings. I think on reflection Mimis progression could be vital in helping to navigate Mika and Hannah through the next stages in their career.
Mika on court and is one set all, but 0-3 in the decider. She has her left thigh heavily strapped but does seem to be moving ok, although it might be affecting her serve. 15 DF so far, and her serve is all over the place. It looks pretty breezy though, although not troubling her opponent.
