I promised myself to keep out of the wild card guessing game this week but I can't help myself. no

I think the WCs will be Esther and Mia Wainwright. Mia won the Tennis Scotland Tour Masters here last month and although I don't believe there is any feed-up WC available for that, as all the alternatives are of a similar level why not choose someone with a proven success on these courts and is a little familiar to the Glasgow folk that may come and watch. I'd like to think there is an outside chance of Indi or Vic as they try to get a foothold on the rankings ladder, but I think the LTA would only choose 1 graduate college player if there are juniors available at this time of the year and I fear Vic may have had her chances with main draw WCs.

It won't be Hannah K, as it is too close (time wise) to Australia, and under age restrictions, she only has 1 tournament and 1 WC left in her eligibility quota before her birthday which I would think she would want to use at Edgbaston rather than here.

Almost right - it was Vic rather than Mia

Yes, excellent Lambda. Main draw is out but without qualifiers, so we'll have to wait a little longer.

I'm glad that my fears about Vic are unfounded and the LTA still have faith in her. Vic's difficulties to get a ranking to get her pro career going should be a lesson for anyone at University wanting to go pro afterwards. They've got to keep playing some ITFs while at Uni to maintain some sort of ranking, even if its only a middling ITF ranking so as not to be reliant on wildcards to get their pro career going. I hope Sofia Johnson doesn't have the same difficulties to get a ranking when she graduates in the summer as she's another that has not kept her hand in the pro circuit.

Vic serves it out to win in 3 sets and justify the wildcard.

How many counters has she got now?
