Pity but still a super looking effort from Fran there. Well done!

Not the further 30 points but her 18 points for qualifying will fairly likely take her to a new CH on Monday. She is showing as live ranked 145 as against her CH 149 from 2022.

I was super impressed with Fran - she looked very competitive. She's really worked on her forehand, definitely a lot more power on that shot now.

Fran was winning point after point pounding ball after ball deep into the corners, mostly crosscourt but occasionally forcing her opponent to run from corner to corner. She seemed able to play that game with very few errors. I'm not sure what happened in her final service game as she seemed to be trying something different and went 40-0 down, saved two break points but not the third.
