I understand from the BBC website that she has a wildcard but I assume that is for the main draw.

Qualifying starts tomorrow (Friday) and the main draw is at 2pm local time.

The WTA doesn't list the wild cards but does say that 37 of the top 40 players are entered. And yes, the BBC reports that Emma has a WC. The top 8 players have a bye so at least that is one obstacle avoided in the first round !

Most WTA matches are shown on this site, the quality is not always great and the action sometimes freezes but it is better than nothing and they do provide two channels so if one breaks down you can quickly try the other.

Emma is in the main draw playing Alexandrova again. Winner plays Sabalenka. Katie not in the main draw. I got this off the tennis forum but there seems to be conflicting draws now. Katie in neither. Emma now has a different opponent. Not sure which is correct. The Alexandrova draw appears to be correct. Is there not an easier tournament for Emma to play in or could have played in recently such as Linz indoor last week which was a $500K tournament. Yastremska who reached the final had done nothing since the 2024 AO.

Starting to worry about Katie. Hope she's ok. I know she didn't play this swing last year either, but still that's a very late withdrawal.
