It's such a shame that Heather withdrew. She needs to be playing this type of tournament if she's to have any hope of rescuing her ranking. Maybe she is thinking of retiring?
How did Min Mahut get in then? I assumed she'd got a wildcard or won a wildcard through some play-up system? (she's pint-sized but I like her gumption and energy on the court )

She was 43 on the alternates list, and Vic Allen at 47 also made the draw. There were a number of Brits above them that didn't sign in, so basically the top thirteen that did made the draw.

A few of the Brits above Vic - Amelie Brooks, Fran Simpson, Summer Yardley, Sirena Waas (along with Sophya Devas) - are in a UTR in Denmark starting tomorrow.
Surprised Mika is in qualifying, she must have turned down a wildcard.
She may have asked for 1 WC in this swing with a preference for Manchester or she may be saving them for the other GB swings later in the year. Of the 6 WCs she's allowed, she's going to need 1 or 2 WCs for the grass season and there'll probably be a couple of WCs coming from Octagon which only leaves her with a couple to play with for the rest of the year.
