Just looking at the draw, Millie v Mika is an interesting match, and the prospect of Lily v Brooke in last 16 also.

Mika beat Millie, 6-4 6-4

A fair result - it was a close match but Mika was the slightly better player, served her way out of trouble nicely when needed, Millie was a touch slow to react on a lot of the hard, heavy balls, it doesn't take much ....

Ranah was 5-3 up in the 1st set and lost four games in a row.

Ranah was 5-2 up but ended up losing the first set 5-7 :(

Lily has taken the first set off Amandine Hesse though :)

Lily won

But Ranah and Brooke both lost

Brooke's opponent is an interesting player - only 19, ex #2 in juniors, but highly exasperating to all belgian fans....

However, she was too strong for Brooke today by quite a way

And out exasperation should be for Ranah who has so many weapons but doesn't seem to be able to string them together (maybe due to lack of matchplay due to injury?)

When Ranah went on the attack she seemed to be at the very least holding her own but she kept switching to slicing the ball which Bartone invariably said thanks very much as she put it away for a winner.

Ella had a string of break points half way through the final set but was unable to convert any of them. She then lost her own service in the very next game and never recovered. It could so easily have gone the other way.

Yes, I'm with you, Peter

Both girls had every chance, really, of getting a win, but somehow didn't have the sharp edge when needed.

Ella makes some poor technical errors at key moments, and Ranah seems to go a little AWOL.

The good side, though, is that they're both still teenagers and have every chance of ironing some of these issues out

Mika's next match will be a battle between top juniors with Mika on a JCH=5 and Clervie Ngounoue on a JCH=1.

Clervie isn't a junior any more, and Mika is JR5 - but I take your point. Should be a good one to watch
