I thought he'd blown it after that first set!

L16:  Max Wiskandt (GER) WR 492 defeated (5) Henry Searle WR 389 by 6-3 4-6 7-6(5)  bleh

The German first served for it at 6-5.  Henry had the odd mini-break in the tie-break, but just couldn't shake him off.

QF:  Arthur Féry WR 580 vs Max Wiskandt (GER) WR 492

Good stuff - would love for one of Liam, Arthur or Henry to win the event this week, with Liam at the top of that list!

Sadly Henry's not going to be the one  I agree about Liam and Arthur but I'd be just as happy if Anton won.  I've been waiting some time for him to make his breakthrough.

Darn, hadn't read back through SC's results and seen Henry had lost already. And yes, Anton also. Quite a few players in this event that it would be great to see a title week from!

Anton the only seed left now in the last 8 - draw wide open.

5 Brits still in - great opportunity if one of them can grab it.

I'm going to Roehampton tomorrow, just checking is it open to public? And is it the same venue as during the summer?

Certainly did biggrin

The NTC is very swish, all nice wood, heated, excellent canteen - and, of course, you not only get to see good matches but you see a lot of players and coaches etc walking around

There was Joe Salisbury, Felix Gill, Hannah Klugman, Marni, Harriet, Sonay, and more .... all chatting, getting their lunch, messing around, doing whatever they're doing smile

The matches were super too - because quasi-frenchie Arthur played extremely well, George Loffers was cracking the ball, Liam and opponent were yelling their heads off but Liam shouted just that bit louder when it mattered biggrin, Ben found his way to another third set TB win (and it wasn't just servebot either), Anton was cracking the ball too (and trying out some fancy net play)..... only Henry Searle's result was a disappointment and he still reminds me 100% of a puppy - potential to be a great 'dog' but still a little uncoordinated, over excitable, head all over the place, at the moment

Saw some mums too smile Arthur's mum must have lived in London for 25 years or however long but still looks 100% French - unmistakeable biggrin Anton's mum was there too (it MUST have been his mum surely, big apologies if not, but SO like him and acting like a mum smile), and various coaches I know, and ones I don't

A great day out and a very good standard of tennis - far better overall standard than the women's W50(?) in March last year which was the last time I was at the NTC, I think.
