Shymanovich beat the top seed Tatjana Maria WR 74 by 2 & 2 in R1 before calming down and beating Taylah Preston WR 160 by 7-5 in the 3rd set in R2, still a decent looking result in itself.
Still looks winnable. Hopefully Fran is good to go again and leaves us to choose a word to describe another win
Shymanovich got beaten last week in Mumbai by a 15-year old Indian girl, Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi, 6-4 6-1. Unranked and made the SFs to jump into the world's top 700. One to look out for!

Took IND from 28 to 26 in WTA strongest nation.
I always get excited by prospects from countries that don't have much representation in tennis. If India could get a player to the top, that would be BIG for the WTA (Sania Mirza cut her singles career quite short from memory).

IND have plenty of players (23 ranked with a further 19 with WTA points) and host a lot of tournaments, but they rarely get above WR 300. Ankita Raina is the best I can recall (CH 160) in recent times.
