2025 Favourite British Tennis Player - FINAL

Very difficult, I admire all of those players, but if I were at a tournament, and for arguments sake they were all playing at the same time, it would still be Emmas match that I would sneak in to watch somehow ..

Yes, I think possibly the same with me, and I also so want to see her fulfill her capabilities. Not though currently my favourite player per se.

I actually went Jodie! Think her story the year did it for me plus she seems like a lovely person! Was tempted with Jacob though!

Thats a really good way of looking at it - I get that!

thanks for voting - 15 now; votes lined up 5,4,3,2,1 and 0 x 3

As it develops, I think we will see it swing around a fair bit.

And theres a possibility some of the women will take votes off each other and lessen their chances, whereas fewer men may help Jake or Henry.

Ha for theorising over SF Groups of Life and Death as Emma and Jodie from SF 1 pick up further votes. As it happens, after 15 votes, there are 5 going to players who emerged from each of SFs 1, 2 and 3.

19 votes now and 6 players now have votes - just Henry and Sonay to get on the board

That's a helpful way of looking at it - I've gone for Jake.

Very torn here but in the end I went for Francesca Jones for her grit. Jodie almost made it.

I do not really follow the men so it was always going to be a woman who got my vote.

I wonder with 6 women and 2 men there will be some tactical voting where those who follow women's tennis more will wait and sort of coalesce behind the most likely woman winner? I haven't voted yet, I think I know which way I'll go but going to wait for a bit to see how it goes.

I have gone for Jake. Not only for his professionalism and how he continues to adapt to the world stage, but also his calmness under pressure. One excellent role model. Hard work and the respect of his peers.

You never know on an individual basis, but hard to know if therell be group think!

26 votes in now, speeding up ! Probably half the expected total votes in so that tactical push probably needs to take place soon!

I like that method and would probably agree with you - Emma still has a love/hate attraction that draws me to her, whatever the others are doing smile

But I decided long ago in these competitions to vote for the player whose match I'd seen live that year and still remembered as being a real favourite (if no match stands out in my memory, then I move to plan B)

Which leads to some pretty esoteric picks early on. And narrows the field now because I often don't get to see the absolute top players play live.

However, this time it was easy as Emily Appleton's win over Linda Fruh was a highlight of my live tennis last year biggrin Super match, super win, lovely day at Surbiton - she got the vote

Clearly some folk do follow the women's game more than the men's and have more women favourites and vice-versa. But actually to coalesce behind a particular woman just to try and ensure it's at least a woman over a man winning, even if not your favourite, personally I would find that very strange.

I get tactics in some situations, though more to say progress players than in actual final votes. But to achieve a particular sex winner?
