Thanks RJH - Im not an Emma fan as such but feel for her, and not surprised she was upset. I think she did very well to play and compete at all in those circumstances.

Many of us remember Monica Seles and the stabbing incident and these things cannot be taken too seriously.

For anybody that doesn't want to add traffic to that site, the WTA statement as reported by Reuters reads

"On Monday Emma Raducanu was approached in a public area by a man who exhibited fixated behaviour," the WTA said in a statement on Wednesday.
"This same individual was identified in the first few rows during Emmas match on Tuesday at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships and subsequently ejected. He will be banned from all WTA events pending a threat assessment.
"The WTA is actively working with Emma and her team to ensure her well-being and provide any necessary support.
"We remain committed to collaborating with tournaments and their security teams worldwide to maintain a safe environment for all players."

Stop with the word salad, he's a stalker, end of.

Obviously not aimed at you Lambda, in this instance, the WTA but insert other organisations/people as you please.

Unfortunately nutters who stalk young women are liable to turn violent. I recall the dreadful injuries Monica Seles received which ended her career. Needs to be stamped out and Emma needs the protection, along with the other tennis stars.  Have so much respect for Emma to pick herself up and put in such an excellent performance. Well done. Without the interruption she could have had that match, it was so close.

No Brits involved but just finished watching Clara Tauson beating Sabalenka. Tauson was just impassable (if that's a word) and some of her winners were breathtaking. Fabulous. 6-3, 6-2

Whilst watching Dubai I caught up with Tom Hill now  coaching Peyton Stearns to success.Recall Tom coaching Maria Sakkari during the most succesful stage of her career.

Remember Clara on her way up she beat Emma in the final of the Chicago W125, pre US Open.Just done it nice and steady. Interestingly said in 2022 that Emma came up the ranks too quickly and didn't have time to consolidate her level. She has to be one to watch in the next couple of years. Great player.

Very good to see from Clara. Prior to that WTA 125 final win she also got the better of Emma in a number of junior matches they had when they were very good junior contemporaries, with Clara, JCH 1, a month younger than Emma.

Now into the SF here and live ranked 27 as against her CH 33 from 2022.

It would be great to see them competing against each other at the very top level in the coming years. The ability is there with both.

And Mirra knocked out Swiatek 3 and 3. Have to say this WTA has a fresher look to it with the younger stars coming through.

Crazily Swiatek is only 23 herself! Hardly the 'old guard'.
