Girls: J500 Gaspar, Brazil, clay (Week 9)

The second J500 of the year is the culmination of the South American circuit, and the last stop in the 5 week marathon for Allegra Korpanec Davies. Her draw looks reasonably favourable, starting with an unranked Brazilian wildcard. The equivalent Banana Bowl event last year was won by Oliver Bonding.

R1 (L64)

(WC) Alice Ghiraldi (BRA) v (7) Allegra Korpanec Davies

I have just read this:

A massive CONGRATULATIONS to 17 year old British player Oliver Bonding who's won the M15 Lannion tournament on the ITF tour!!

This has been quite incredible week for Oliver. This is his first ever title on the senior pro tour, he'd only won one senior level match before this week. And this time last year he was winning a tournament on the junior tour.

In the final today, Oliver defeated Axel Garcian 6-3 7-6 in a very impressive performance. Oliver also hasn't dropped a set all week. This kid is definitely a player to keep an eye on, SO much potential.

WELL DONE OLIVER!!

Yes, great achievement, very happy for him! Just out of interest, where did you read this Rokavenet?

Ah I see, he certainly has a lot of potential and seems to play well on clay too so that bodes well for the ITF clay court swing.

His Lannion title arguably owes a lot to the Banana Bowl title last year. He took a Junior Reserved (JR) place in the Lannion main draw.  JR places are meant for those who finish the previous year in the junior top 30.  Had he not won here he probably wouldn't have finished in the junior top 30

Back to this tournament and Allegra+ are seeded 5 in doubles

Allegra scored a second victory over her Italian opponent on this trip, unfortunately via retirement. She now plays Thea Frodin, who beat her in 3 sets at the Orange Bowl, and reached the J300 final last week (losing out to Laima Vladson, who beat Allegra in the previous week's final) - overtaking Allegra in the rankings as a result. Top seed Kaitlyn Rolls awaits the winner of their match

R2 (L32)

(7) Allegra Korpanec Davies (GBR) d. Aurora Nosei (ITA) 6-4 3-1 rtd

R3

(11) Thea Frodin (USA) v (7) Allegra Korpanec Davies (GBR)
