Wow! I was only able to tune in at the start of the 3rd set and what a nervy set that was from both players .. and me .. what on earth happened in the first two sets? Regardless Jack toughed it out and is now a top 10 player

I've never seen Carlos make so many errors.
Very topsy-turvy match, but Jack played really good tennis at the key times

The double bounce at 1-1 in the third set will be talked about. Alcaraz seemed to concede but if he didnt, Im not sure it went the right way. However, despite that he played very well in the 3rd set and deserved it in the end.

Yes, that was bizarre. Lahyani made two mistakes. Firstly, calling not up when it was, and then awarding the point to Draper when he said his call came after Alcaraz had played the ball. He was watching the replay without sound! But the fact was that the call didn't distract Alcaraz, and he was right to concede.

Surprised that VAR doesn't have audio ability, although I guess not usually necessary with the absence of line judges.

I don't like Lahyani (not that it's relevant biggrin)

As everyone has said above, a really weird match, with surprising lows in level, as well as some excellent bits

But, net net, a super result for Jack who has been playing really well this week (if not all the time last night)

And a 'new look' final to look forward to

So Jack is live 8 but will go down to 9 if he loses the final which doesn't happen very often.

Great result but yes it certainly seems to have been a strange match.

I heard comments from Jack that a bathroom break after the second set was important to get things back together.

He said his legs had started to feel sapped and he wasn't mentally clear, wasn't all there. And his breathing was shallow.

So yet again, he's mentioning breathing issues. Sympton? Cause?  confuse

Well, would just drop back because Rune is within the additional 350 points of him. Does happen when final opponents are quite close to each other in live rankings points. Came into IW ranked 14 so great to see, whether he leaves lW at 7 ( if he wins the final ) or 9 ( if he loses it ). Let it be as a WR 7 IW Masters Champion.

The double bounce episode is discussed at some length by Stu Fraser in his article for The Sunday Times

Jack is the favourite according to the bookies.

And Tennis abstract rate it as 64% in favour of Jack to win.
