Boys Qualis:

No BYEs

Top 4 seeds: Dan Franco-Key; Alex Winder; Simon Hegarty; Lucas Ebert

In the QR1 results, though, Alex and Lucas lost heavily (to Alfie King and Archie Gray - who rather sound as though they should be a comedy duo, sort of Ant & Dec style)

Two wildcards got wins too, Isaac Sallu and Dash Green

GIRLS

Carrying on, I'm still posting a lot about Tanishka Naveen - only 13, and today she beat the top q seed, 0 & 0, and then beat the q6 seed in the FQR

Karina Kiss also won two matches to make the MD

Lara Savic v Anna Wright result still to come

Tanishka is another Edgbaston girl. Improved loads in the last couple of years

Mia and Tegan, having just played the final against each other are now playing each other in the first round tomorrow. Horrible draw for them!

Daniella Britton is a late withdrawal. Dont know if shes injured or if they have decided to step back to J60s as shes had 3 first round losses in the 3 J100 she has played. Not a problem at her age but she has left school to focus on tennis (home schooling) and she is limited to the amount of ITFs she can play, due to her age. Maybe better to get more matches at a lower level. She has also withdrawn from the J100 in Spain in a couple of weeks. She has told other players she is expecting to start at the national academy in September but not sure if that has been confirmed or is what they are aiming for.

Rest of the draw is very much what you would expect but not a good first round draw for sophia C either so there could be some strong players out early

Girls R1

And Mia v Tegan went to a third-set TB - and poor Tegan, having lost 7-5 in the third in last week's final, now lost 7-6(5) in the third today

Younger sister, Leah Bush, with a wildcard, also lost

Not too surprisingly, Sophia Christodoulou beat Isabella Wong, the top seed (Isabella is fully ranked, and has barely played this year)

Glad to see our 2009-ers Edie Griffiths, Alisha Ndukwu and Emilija get wins.

And 14year-olds Megan and Annabel wong too

 Seemingly neither, Rose

She's in the main draw of the J100 in Cyprus

9th seed, with a BYE and then due to play tomorrow

Not quite sure why it's Cyprus, not Loughborough, that gets the nod

Never occurred to me to look at any others as she was in Loughborough until the last minute. Maybe they felt Cyprus was an easier tournament. Cant see any other reason to travel when theres one here. Who knows!

A super win for 14 year-old Annabel Wong, over the 2nd seed

And from 14 year-old Megan Knight too, who was expeditive, to say the least

Nothing against Sophia C, but I'm pleased Edie won too
