The schedule for tonight is Eala v Swiatek at 5pm (UK time), then not before 7pm two mens matches and then not before 11pm Emma v Pegula. So it could be 11pm, or later if the earlier matches run on.
Yeah, probably looking at a 2 am start for her, as she is 4th on court - perfect for night owls like me!!
Really looking forward to this one. Emma is looking improved and buoyant in her attitude. Even if she flops tonight, it is looking really good for the whole season. That win against Anisimova was so emphatic and I'm very excited for her.

Would be great but I really do hesitate about how it is looking for the whole season. She is riding a bit of a wave just now, and of course when she's good she can be very good. But we have seen one or two false dawns before, and while this one has moved much more into true daylight than others I'd still be much happier to see a consistent structured coaching set-up in place.
If Emma did manage a win tonight she would gain another 175 points on top of the 215 she has already from this tournament and that would take her up to 37 in the live rankings with Katie at 39.
Re the timing of Emma's match, with Eala vs Swiatek from 5pm, I could certainly see the first of the two men's matches being ready to go at 7 pm or not long after, so I would certainly hope to see Emma in action long before 2 am.
But anyway the schedule is as Peter too sets out. I avoid actually predicting start times, particularly for later matches, then no-one can blame me
I was thinking that it was starting to look like the winner of Emma's match would have Swiatek cleared from their path with Eala being 6-2 2-0 up but I just checked again before posting and now it's 6-2 2-4 so Iga is clearly still very much in that match as might be expected. Either way Eala is really a fun new talent to follow
I think that result completely changes the dynamics and pressure of Emma's match tonight. Pegula starts favourite but all of a sudden the pressure on her has a different look. Safe to say that both Emma and Pegula would have been thinking they would have to beat Swiatek to get the final. Now, and with all respect to Eala who is obviously playing very well, the path to the final opens up in a way they wouldn't have imagined. For Pegula, I think, the pressure has just increased. She now becomes a heavy favourite to reach the final and for Emma this pressure is quite a lot less.
Whether that will have an effect on tonight's match I don't know but it is hard for Pegula not to have thoughts of the final when she in fact has two matches to go to get there.
Haha. It's developing into Emma's sort of tournament.
It could work out again like the 2021 US Open with Emma bsating Pegula, then Eala in the semi final and Paoini in the final,
I guess a bit, though annoyingly Pegula and Paolini are still WR 4 and WR 7 respectively. And having already played and beaten Navarro WR 10, winning this title will involve beating 3 top 10 ranked players. That's 3 more than she beat to win the US Open.
