Back from work and waiting for the start - looks like my 2 am was a bit out!!
Swiatek out, so what a chance of making the final for the winner. I'm honestly not that hopeful, but I do think it is great to see Emma stringing a good set of results together. I thought Navarro was a fine result, but Anisimova is someone I really rate - she is finally coming back into form, after the sudden death of her father when she was a teen. I think for Emma to get that sort of result in America against Anisimova was pretty special and tonight will be a real test.
Wonder how many will be watching this - often on the late nighters, I am the only one posting, so I won't bother unless others are, as no-one needs score updates the following morning.

Emma's match to start at 1 am - an hour early - they just didn't listen to me, re- the scheduling. No other insomniacs or vampires on here, so over and out - c'mon Emma.
Emma has broken back and held for 4-1 really upped her game in the second set and started hitting bigger after some relevant advice from Mark Petchey. Pegula holds while I'm writing for 4-2. Emma just needs to hold her serve to take this to a third set now.
A marathon eighth game in which Emma failed to convert four set points at 5-2 seemed to take a lot out of her. It might have been better to let that game go and wait for her serve (but I know it doesn't work that way when you are full of adrenaline and in the midst of battle) because Emma's level dipped a little on her next serve and Pegula broke back.
Now Emma's got the doctor on court complaining of feeling dizzy.
Took the maximum time out before continuing. Let's hope she's okay.
I hope I ain't the only one that thinks this, but I don't know why she was allowed to continue after the MTO she took. She looked liked likeshe was on another planet.
Also, whatever happens, she should be commended for waiting till the end of the game unlike the lady that called one during a game the other day. Because she should have stopped.
Just for the sake of this opinion, they've gone in to a tiebreak as I write.
After losing a close first set Emma started to dominate the 2nd set got a break up and then started to feel faint towards the end of the set and got broken back. She got the doctor on and after tests on heart rate and temperature, lots of ice packs and various drinks she restarted and pulled herself back to winning the tie break. She carried on to the end but the energy wasn't quite there in the third set. I hope she got a blood test taken straight after the match to see what was causing the problem. It could be just something as simple as low sodium levels or some other nutrient. She clearly had the game to beat Pegula and psychologically was in a good place but was let down by lack of energy towards the end.
Worrying about the dizziness but hopefully simple to improve on the nutrient mix she's taking on during games. I could only stay awake for the first set but by the sounds of it the second set showed us a better example of where Emma's tennis really is. Hugely encouraging.
