Julian & Lloyd put a stop to Bhambri+'s run:

QF:  (6) Julian Cash & Lloyd Glasspool CR 33 (17+16) defeated Yuki Bhambri & Nuno Borges (IND/POR) CR 156 (37+119) by 7-6(1) 3-6 [10-8]

However,

SF:  (6) Julian Cash & Lloyd Glasspool CR 33 (17+16) vs (2) Harri Heliövaara (FIN) & Henry Patten CR 7 (4+3)  hmm

Ill put my usual smiley face on - guaranteed finalist and also first match up, I believe, between these two pairs of old flames! Should make it have a little extra edge! Although i think they are all friends!

Yes surprisingly they haven't met (although they did play each other in the mixed at Wimbledon).

You also have two old flames in the other semi, Pavic v Mektic!

Mensik has done a bit of a Raducanu, with wins over a slightly jaded Draper, Machac by walkover, and then an exhausted/injured Fils. He's the real deal, but sometimes you need a little bit of good fortune.

That SF sure had who have seemed our top performers for some time. And the post Miami GB rankings order will be :

1. Henry
2. Lloyd
3. Julian

4. Neal
5. Jamie
6.Joe

Bit of a changing of the guard?

Didnt get chance to comment before, but folks who read any posts of mine will know Ive rated Lloyd and Julian for some time and am not at all surprised by this result. 4th in the live race ? Great result and hope they get the title!

They have some strange scheduling at Miami which certainly doesn't give as similar rest time to opponents in the following round as they could.

They got a bit out of kilter due to earlier rain delaying the Zverev vs Fils L16 until yesterday and then the heavier scheduie helping delay the Korda vs Djokovic QF until today.

But Dimitrov won his QF yesterday. Logically Korda vs Djokovic to determine his SF opponent should have been the first of today's 3 men's QFs. Then the later QFs should have been the top half ones ( Fritz vs Berrettini and poor Fils vs Mensik ).

Djoko into semis, not lost a set. Seems a pattern in his matches so far, comfortable first set (0, 1, 2 and 3) and then 3 of his 4 second sets are tie breaks.

Nonetheless he seems to be playing well, with no drama or much news related to he and Andy, all seems in good shape.

So pleased for Julian and Lloyd and would love them to take that final step this week. Their rate of improvement has been huge and it's great to have another successful all-Brit pairing. Of course Lloyd's most successful partnership was also with Harri, so definitely the semifinal of the exes.

So Sir Andy Murray makes his first final as a coach.

I'm not sure how much Andy contributed to the semi-final victory. It looked to me like Dimitrov was psyched out by his history against Djoko, he never looked like he believed he could win this.

Djoko is fourth in the race and will go second with a title win. Easy to write him off as a force but second would say he still is a force. Good for Andy, clearly hes making a difference in the round.

I fear I sold Jakub Meník short when he beat Jack at the start of the tournament. I thought that was a one-off, an inspired moment because he had a chance to take on and beat the IW winner. I thought JM had played way beyond his normal ability for one big match.

Obviously that was wrong. What an incredible talent the 19yo Meník is. His level has been extraordinary. Where did he come from?

It wasn't long since it looked like Sinner and Alcarez were going to dominate tennis for the immediate future. Then Fonseca appeared, and now Meník.

Tbh I fancy Meník to win the final (Andy's influence aside) because he has no fear. He will just go for it and Novak isn't quite what he used to be.

He did reach the AO junior boys singles final in 2022, but so many do that and dont make it. Fonseca recent rise has eclipsed him for sure.
