The winner will play Alex de Miñaur (10).

 Billy won, 6-7 7-6 6-3 in 3 hours 16 mins.

Well done, Billy. As well as Jake playing Tristan Boyer next, Billy has Hugo Gaston, he being a finalist at Ilkley last June.

I believe it was another Frenchman, Harold Mayot, who David Goffin beat at Ilkley last June.

Isn't Gaston the guy who drop shots all the time? Not sure that's what you need after a 3 hour match.

All the Brits in the bottom half which is a shame.

Billy is sitting at live 103 now, although lots of players around him are still in action. Nonetheless, a main draw place would be a big boost and give him great confidence as well as opportunity!

Yes, lots of players around him either also through to the Miami FQR or in Miami or Challenger MDs. Theoretically, if they all fell down at their next hurdle and Billy was to qualify for another 10 points plus pick up the 10 points for competing in MD R1 ( so move up to 580 points ), he could rise to WR 98 just with that.

Realistically I think he would probably need to reach at least MD R3 ( for 620 points ) with the number of other players and it being a 2 week ranking period, if he is to get into the top you know what here. So yes, for now let's just go qualify, Billy.

First set to Jake and an immediate break of serve in the second.
