Yes, did have a BP but overall only so many lives you get.

Hopefully though a great learning experience at the end of a good week.

First 4 games of each set: 1-11
After first 4 games: 13-7
Total games: 14-18

Otherwise the most serious problem for Hannah certainly appeared to be her 2nd serve return non conversion. Does anyone know if Lilli has a noticeably awkward to return well 2nd serve?

Yes, but Hannah had 8 aces, and 14 DFs

Whereas Lilli had 0 aces and 4 DFs

So Hannah is only net two points worse than Lilli on direct serve points, over the whole of the three sets

It's no difference

I can't rightly remember, Indy, but I don't think Lilli has a particularly challenging second serve, although she is very tall and so the ball is coming down from quite a height, and with quite a lot of wrist work, so it might be something Hannah isn't used to

Sligthly disappointing that Hannah, yet again, started off poorly and spent nearly all the match playing catch up. Given yesterday, you'd have hoped she'd have started today a bit more all engines firing.

But it's her 4th best counter of all time. And her best ever on clay. So there's a lot to be pleased about.

At their ages, I'd rather stats of 8 aces and 14 DFs to 0 Aces and 4 DFs

Hannah's stats indicate a weapon that needs polishing whereas Lilli's indicate steady but not threatening

I know which I'd rather want

17 year-old Lilli Tagger went on to take the title, beating Lois Boisson WR 234 CH 152 in two sets

Very pleased for Lilli

And also for Hannah, losing to Lilli in three sets

I think aces can be misleading....maybe a 'service winners' stat would be better, to include all points where returner doesn't get ball back in play. And even then quite a lot of decent serves get returned in play but ready for a winner off second shot from server. Also some double faults indicate going for a decent second that just misses and some are poor when ball goes halfway up the net. Stats hide a lot unless you watch the whole match closely

I agree that including unreturned serves may provide a clearer indication of the impact of a player's serve .. but an Ace is not the same as a serve which almost resulted in a winner on the return so I feel there would need to be different stats
