But lost in R1 of the other adults events she's played this year, as well as losing in R1 of the junior Australian Open

That Birmingham 'little run' is the only light in a bit of a dark tunnel at the moment

Dark tunnel maybe a bit dramatic when she's just 16 and it's not unlikely that there will be up and down periods as she develops her game.

 Yes, you're probably right, I'm being a little over-dramatic

BUT she took the last couple of months of 2024 off, so it's been a pretty long time since she's had any wins of note - it must be preying on her mind - it's not easy after the wonderful moments after the US Open - it's a harsh sport - to go from champion to barely a win in six months (when not injured) is quite difficult to deal with 

ADD: I wasn't meaning that it's an actual problem, just that it might be a problem for her, at this moment

L32: Ella McDonald WR 389 (=CH) vs (7) Maria Mateas (USA) WR 246 (CH 190 in August last year )

Mateas beat Millie here in 3 sets in the L32 last week on the way to the SF.
