Week 13 - WTA125 - Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Hard

Heather goes up 1-0 40-0* in the second, but makes 5 errors....

Hmm. Hope this isn't a sign of a momentum shift. The American was having an absolute nightmare.

Survived a very tough test on serve then broke a couple of games later.

But at 4-2 *40-15 she lets the American in again and it's back on serve

4-3*

Very useful 6-0 6-3 win for Hev. Mexico has traditionally been kind to her over the years. Osuigwe's attitude was terrible, didn't look very interested in fighting at all.

I think you were a bit nervous, PaulM

I was AI confident !!!!

Well done, Heather

(Whitney is one of the few players in whom I have even less trust to play clutch tennis when it matters than Heather)

However Harriet partners Niculescu in the Doubles and are the top seeds.
Emily App partners Quinn Gleason and Heather is with K Piter

Maria's defence is, as usual, very strong and incredibly tricky

Jodie 6-2 3-6 1-2*

Jodie let Maria get in her head and it was game over.

She loses 2-6 6-3 6-1 but a very good first round win and a little bit of a progress. She did play some excellent tennis today but struggled with the tricks and spins and having to generate so much of her own pace and always play that one, two or three extra balls.

Meanwhile Hev and Piter are having a nightmare. Lost 4/5 deuce points to drop the opening set 1-6

Hev and Piter lose a dreadful 7 out of 10 deuce points (Piter for some bizarre reason took every one on return and I think made one return), go 3 from 16 on break points, and lose 6-1 6-4.

Poor result that really.

Good win there. Now may Emily+ do rather better against the Americans than Hev+ did.
