The finals will be mid sept straight after the US Open, rather than November

No time is ideal but it helps the players not getting to play this after the tour finals

Although it goes against two WTA 500 events, it is in China and straight before the 1000 event in China

Presumably the Germans will put Lys in today, which makes them a much stronger team as Maria is a very tricky #2 for (I imagine) Sonay to face.

Is it definitely going to be on BBC? LTA seem to be promoting Tennis Channel.

PS. I obviously need to keep up, but are we playing in the Hague now, I though it was to be Malaga?

adding to TA's comment, Malaga was the venue for the finals last season. This is a qualifying stage for the 2025 finals - top team in each group get through. This years finals are being played in China in September, just after the US Open.

Nope, still no Lys so that does make the line-up look friendlier. Although Niemeier can't be as bad as she was yesterday, it feels a good opportunity for Sonay to start her Fed Cup career well.

Have to wonder if Germany have left out Lys specifically so Maria could be number 1 and face Katie.

Sonay doing beautifully so far, serving at 5-3.

Sonay eventually got the set 6-4. Did very well as it could have gone south after being broken at *30-0 and missing set points to go game point down.

A break up in the second now.
