Boys & Girls: 2025 U18 Junior National Championships, NTC, acrylic (Week 16)

That's a Junior Doubles Main Draw wildcard to Hollie and Mia

That will be a huge deal, in particular, for Mia who's never played at Wimbledon before - what a lovely prize

The doubles finals are today and line up as:

Ruby Cooling and Hep Oluwadare (3) v Hollie Smart and Mia Wainwright (4) - Ruby has had a good tournie based on singles semis (so far) and doubles final (so far)

Zech Hamrouni and Rys Lawlor (1) v Felix Bockelmann-Evans and Ferran Redza (unseeded)

Both Hollie and Rhys won the under 16 doubles titles so are going for a double across the age groups. Good luck to them all today.

And Felix and Ferran take the boys title, unseeded. Good effort.

Hannah immediately broke back and took charge as Mika's level dropped, with Hannah taking the first set 6-3

Mika was broken in the first game of the second set, but recovered her level after that to take the second set 6-2. Hannah looks anxious and needs to regroup.

The third set has been the highest overall quality of the match. Hannah has just taken a MTO at 3*-4

Hannah reappeared with her right thigh heavily bandaged, and had to save a breakpoint in the next game. Having done so she then broke Mika , but failed to serve out

5-5

Three games in a row gives Mika the title, ending Hannah's dominance over Mika (now 8-1 in LTA singles) and means Hannah has lost 3 National finals in a row from a set up (2023 v Isabelle Lacy and 2024 v Mimi Xu)

Girls F

(1) Mika Stojsavljevic d. (2) Hannah Klugman 3-6 6-2 7-5

Sounds like it was a good final. Does Hannah get anymore opportunities to take the title or is this her final year?

The person who broke first in each set ended up losing the set

It was a very good match, I thought

I don't think Hannah's thigh-strapping caused any major problem

She had her chances, as did Mika, and both have things they could have done better

But there was some high class tennis there

Well done to Mika

And, yes, a bit 'tragic' to lose three finals in a row - but hey, the sun will still rise in the east

John must know that Hannah isn't 18 - that's she barely 16 biggrin

Hannah seems to end up runner up in these key events (mind goes back to Les Petit As as a 13 year old). But she keeps getting to the finals. Two more attempts left for this event, but her focus will be on junior slams and senior tournaments.

Seemed a good match from what I saw, if not a classic, maybe not helped by the wind at times.

I was impressed by Mika's feel and inventiveness when close to the net.

Different birth years but just 2 months between them, with Mika born December 2008 and Hannah born February 2009. Great prospects.
