Monfils will be having a duvet day tomorrow, won't be able to move in the morning.

Gael Monfils has been playing to the crowd all night and he had them eating out of his hand (as well as singing and dancing) and to be fair to the home fans it's been a hell of a watch, great entertainment. How could you not get involved in a spectacle like that?

Like Indiana I would have fancied Jack to win a fifth set anyway, Gael Monfils was just about done in by the end.

Fantastic match.

Annabel Croft on the Beeb:

What a wonderful moment, to see those two.  They have just had the biggest hug I have ever seen at the net.

None of us will forget this match, so much entertainment. This takes Jack Draper up to another level.

Jack is always so generous at the net, seems like a guy who gets on with all the players and genuinely enjoys himself out there. Respect.

So wow, 3 Brits into the French third round - and one guaranteed to go further - cant complain at that!

Massive credit to both players. Not that long ago Jack would have been cramping up after a tense battle like that.

The Beeb again:

And that victory for British number one Jack Draper means we have three British men in the third round of the French Open for the first time since 1968.  Draper joins Cameron Norrie and Jacob Fearnley in reaching that stage.

Norrie and Fearnley will go head-to-head in the third round so we are guaranteed at least one Briton in the fourth round too.

I'm also still waiting for anyone to get in touch with the three British men who reached the third round in 1968...

The three men, for those who are interested, were Paul Hutchins, Gerald Battrick & Mark Cox.  Only Battrick went through to the fourth round.

I suggest a rather unexpected top 3 nations by players into R3!

1. USA 5
2. Italy 4
3. GB 3

France still have Fils and Halys to shout for. Alcaraz is the lone Spaniard

Yeah I think he was playing the crowd mostly tonight and didn't delivery his most clinical performance but what a learning experience for him to come through against such a partisan atmosphere against such a tricky veteran.
