RE: Boys & Girls: J200 Aldershot, hard (Week 17)

14 peskies in the boys draw and Dylan Davies has retired 0-4
Aran however has taken the first set off his Spanish opponent.
Early days wink

Good work Coup Droit! Nice to see Vincent Fletcher given a place too after his good run at Nationals.

Yes, I was pleased to see him get one too smile

And obviously Aran

Nice to get three GB lads through from qualis too

A real near miss for Liam Channon who is a lad I like

Playing the TOP seed, he lost - but only in a third-set TB

However, we came out on top in another third-set TB match and big smiles for our 16U title winner:

R1: Aran Selvaraasan (age 14) JR 1789 def. Roberto Perez Socas (age 17) JR 465 6-3 4-6 7-6

Also, big performance:

R1: Ferran Redza JR 389 def. Johan Lien JR 218 6-4 2-6 7-5

And in the girls:

R1: Isabella Wong JR 275 def. (3) Ligaya Murray JR 137 1-6 6-1 6-3

R1: Megan Knight (age 14) JR 329 def. Chukwumileje Clarke (age 15) JR 169 6-3 6-2

Ruby Cooling also beat Rosie Cho quite easily

But losses in the boys for: Conor Brady, Leo Wright, Jesse Clarkson

Selvaraasan was 4-2 down in the deciding set so did really well to claim a big win!

But now they've reversed the winner of the TB !!!!

I honestly despair with that live score site

Every time one player gets to 6 it marks it as a set won

And when the score is 6-1 6-5 it marks it as game over, match finished

It obviously hasn't figured out it goes to 7-5

AND NOW - I waited for 15 mins after the Aran score to make sure - and it was definitely Aran's win, in a 3rd set TB

And now they've reversed it

Damn, it shows his opponent is through on ITF website. How can the score ticker be so wrong and so cruel it was a TB :( I hope Aran gets more WC opportunities because he only lost by narrow margins.

Another problem now , as Daniella's match seems to have stopped scoring.

Well, I suppose at least Aran won the match that mattered...... (at the nationals).... but still glum

However, some other good results (assuming these are right)

R1: (wc) Sophie Christodoulou JR 663 def. Cabio JR 338 4-6 6-2 6-2

R1: (q) Ciara Moore JR 2199 def. Novokova JR 364 6-1 6-2

R1: Sophie Bekker JR 334 def. (4) Vavrova JR 160 6-2 6-3

Brooke also beat Chloe Cleaver

Liv Zingg lost

Yes true, and he has proven he can run the top 500 players close, so good signs overall.

Round 1 nearly complete with Felix having just split sets in the final match. British winners are:

Boys: Ferran, Ben, Rafe, Louis, Mark and Max
Girls: Brooke, Megan, Sophie, Ciara, Mia, Ruby, Daniella, Sophia, Isabella, Tegan, Hollie and Daniela.

Only 1 non-Brit left in the bottom half, who plays Daniela

The girls are doing a stellar job

Three (!) GBR victories over 'peskies' this morning - we'll have none left soon

Wins for Megan over a qualifier

And for top seed Brooke

But the best win goes to Mia Wainwright who put out the 7th seed, JR 183

Daniela Piani was halfway to taking out her Ukrainian opponent having just taken the first set 7-6 but is now only 2-1 in that same first set. confuse I wish Tennis-Ticker was more reliable! no
