Week 18 - ITF W35 - Nottingham - Hard

What an amazing set of results in the last couple of rounds - both Grammatikpolou and Paszek in particular are experienced competitors and I was shocked and delighted to see we got 7 players into the quarter finals.

Wales, She's a very tall, slender girl, left-handed, packs a huge punch with her shots but not the quickest on her feet (a touch like a lefty Katie Boulter)
Comes from Yorkshire, I think
Always been a little fave
The sort of game that will flow well into adults, hopefully
The LTA like her, she's had a fair number of wildcards into good events and was selected for the Loughborough academy a couple of years ago, I think

She's going to South Carolina. As things currently are, it'll be a young team with 7 of the 9 on the roster for next year in their first 2 years.

Edmund, Jubb, Monday. She's the latest coming out of the Hull and nearby area pipeline of quality tennis players.

With so many Brits, and some important upsets already, interesting to see the public's expectations for today:

Marni 1.2
Dani 4.33

Mimi 1.5
Millie 2.5

Angelica 1.44
Lauryn 2.62

Alice 1.33
Jordyn M 3.25

And it's one set all

Just wonderful when it's GB v GB and you really like both players

Allez, les deux !

Marni wins 6-3 in the third.

But Mimi retires after just two games.

I saw the third set of Dani P v Marni - very good tennis, Marni deserved it but Dani was right up there, a couple of very tight games at the start went Marni's way which set her off on the right track but they could easily have gone the other way and then, who knows.....

But thrilled to see Marni back, stringing wins together

So sad to see Mimi with injury problems - does anyone know what's ailing her?

And yeh for Alice !!!!!

Takes out the last pesky - and gets herself into the semis

A wonderful reward for all the hard work she's put into it over the years, slightly in the shade of a lot of other players

Mimi had a calf strapped up, so I would think a muscle strain
