Well, at least one made it - a Paul v Jay final would have been a good one to see how it played out. Not sure Paul would get a wimbledon main draw wild card this season, if he is ranked as low as this, but this win should take him to direct entry to qualies level (as will Jay be) and it would be good for both to not need a QWC.
Would others give Paul or Jay a MDWC? I like both, Paul is a player I like in particular, but am just not sure I would give him one at the moment - if he gets back top 200 by time of decision, maybe...
I think it depends on how Paul does in first couple of weeks of grass court season. Don't forget he beat Shelton on grass last season and took Kryiagos to 5 sets at Wimbledon in the past.
Yes, pass just now. Think it's one for into June and the grass season and see how the land lies re how Paul, Jay and other possibilities stand then.
Paul by the way has a total of 42 ranking points to drop before the Wimbledon Q cut-off ( presumably 26/05 rankings ), replaced so far by only 16 RU points from here ( 25 if he wins the title ) so I reckon he will need more points over the next 2 weeks to get onto the Wimbledon Q list, given WR 238 now.
In fact Jay also has a 25 pointer coming off on 19/05 and I'd say also needs more points over the next 2 weeks for the Wimbledon Q list.
Projected 26/05 ranking points :
Jay 224
Paul 209 ( 218 if he wins the title here ).
