May period has started and week 18 events are underway. May PoM period closes on Sunday 25th May, which is as the FO starts; you know the process, nominations and a reason below, please
1. Jacob Fearnley - won 2 Q rounds plus 2 MD rounds to reach the L32 of the Madrid Masters, before a close one vs Grigpr Dimitrov either side of lights out. Took him to another CH and his L64 victory over Tomas Machac WR 20 was a CH win. .
Hahaha, Indy beat me to nominating Jake! Thanks, Indy!
I think Jake would have featured in the mix, but maybe not been in the top two had he been in the April vote with his Madrid performance. Especially as there was a bit of a narrative across the whole month as he picked up momentum over several tournaments after making a really poor start to the clay season. I think people might have been impressed by his progress as he figured out the surface, as much as the absolute results? (He just hadn't done enough for me before Madrid for me to confidently nominate him on that basis in April.)

I think you are right - it would have taken one or two votes of Sonay and Megan maybe and put him in the mix, but probably not quite top 2.
Anyway, May is good for him - he has a whole month now to build on what he did in Madrid (Rome and Aix?) and get a good strong case together. He isnt in Player of the Season field yet, so keen to see if he can make it into that in the next few months
