There is a Tennis Europe U14 Category 1 event in Rakovnik (Czech Republic) this week, and Grace Watson is having a great tournament. She was seeded to make the semis, but today beat the home top seed to reach the final, and followed that up by taking the doubles title (with April Sackflame).

The upshot is that she will take over from Milica Milojevic next week as number 1 in the race to the Monte Carlo Masters (remember though that the very top under 14 girls, like Megan Knight and Les Petits As winner Ekaterina Dotsenko, have moved on to ITFs)

There were a handful of other Brits here, with Haqim Kamal advancing furthest in singles (last 16), while Hermione Korpanec Davies/Milica Milojevic reached the doubles semis

Jesse Clarkson won two matchs, including against the #2 seed, but lost in the QFs

A new name to me and one to bring a smile to your face - Ace Johnson

Unfortunately, he lost in R1

As did Samuel Hostiuc

And Anne-Marie Icleanu

J30 Spain

After her exploits at the Super cat TE event, a little disappointed to see Sofia Tatu lost in R1

As did Rocco Richardson

Anna Boron lost in R2

J30 Finland

R1 wins for: (q) Noah Paterson, (q) James Henery, (q) Edrick Chery and Matt Ground

In R2, Noah lost but all the others won

In the QFs, wins for James and Matt, with Edrick losing in 3 sets

Martha Ground won her R1 match but lost in R2

But is into the SFs in doubles

In the TE U14 Cat 1 event Grace lost her final 4-6 6-1 6-4 to her Slovakian opponent Romana Dekanova so has to be content with one trophy.
