Just for curiosity:

the Roland Garros wildcards have just been published

In the women, there are quali wildcards for

Cindy Langlais - age 15 - UNR
Daphnée Mpetshi Pericard - age 16 - 1158
Eleejah Inisan - age 16 - 976
Ksenia Efremova - age 16 - WR 629

I mean, the FFT have really gone full throttle on the kids :)

Not often you get a completely unranked player (and well outside the top-150 in juniors too), although she did just score a real head-turner win by beating Léonard

Vote of confidence for the kids or more of a reflection on the adults?

Well, Ksenia was always getting one, she's their poster girl, and the best ranked

And one more would be justifiable

But four????

Can't help feeling Daphnée is rather because of her brother - she got one last year too and was like a rabbit in the headlights

I quite like Eleejah but she lost on clay in R1 in Sweden today, 1 & 1, to a player ranked about 700

And Cindy has one amazing win and nothing else

With Angelica Blake, and Eliz, and Alicia Dudeney, and Katy Dunne, and others, all playing this week at the lower end, we've got some ringers in the qualis who could do some serious damage in the women's
