A little surprised Fran is playing Prague instead of Rome qualies after her success in Madrid.

She was 14th on the Qualifying Alternate list so no surprise.

I know there is a big gap to break into the top 100, but Fran has already shown she is underranked on clay and a decent run in the next few weeks on ITF tournaments will do the job, if she can stay fit...

Good win. Exactly the sort of opponent who could be randomly troublesome in the opening round of Roland Garros qualies.

Easy looking win for Fran: 6-1,6-2.

She has covered all her spring points from last year and that was 42% of the total, so hope to see a good rise up the rankings if she can stay fit.

In the short term though, has a remaining 75 points due off on 26/05 and 54 points due off on 16/06, so would be great to keep on winning and adding points ( well, would be great whatever ).

Her 29 SF so far points here have her live ranked 120 ( with 610 points ) on 19/05.  RU gets 49 points and the titie winner clearly 75 points.

After these 129 points due off by 16/06, she only has a total of 160 points due off for the rest of the year, so relative to what she has been producing, yes a big second half of 2025 window to then make big strides if she can stay fit and well.

Impressive progress through the draw. She should move into a new career high regardless - though if she keeps winning she will be edging closer to the Top 100.

Yes - I'm expecting her to get in direct for Wimbledon and free up a wildcard.

Very little time though. The Wimbledon MD list will be based on the 19/05 rankings, ie after next week.

I reckon she would need to be entered into and reach the final of one of next week's two WTA 125s, as well as continuing to progress here, to have a chance of makng the Wimbledon MD on ranking.
