Yes - I'm expecting her to get in direct for Wimbledon and free up a wildcard.

Very little time though. The Wimbledon MD list will be based on the 19/05 rankings, ie after next week.

I reckon she would need to be entered into and reach the final of one of next week's two WTA 125s, as well as continuing to progress here, to have a chance of makng the Wimbledon MD on ranking.

Wht do you think the final cut-off is likely to be ? I know Harriet got a direct entry at WR100 last year but I haven't checked for anyone lower.

I doubt it will be much lower than WR 100. But tbf I have no real idea about such as current injuries and PR/SRs due to previous tour absences.

Live (19/05) ranked 100 is on 718 points, even live ranked 105 is on 691 points. And these points levels clearly won't drop and may very well rise.

Fran ( with her SF so far points ) is currently live ranked 120 on 610 points.

Just looking at tenisforum, the latest last direct entry they are showing to the RG main draw is Yue Yuan, ranked 101 on its list based on the 14/04 rankings.

Anyway, it's all irrelevant if Fran isn't playing next week.

And I'd doubt she would be that fussed to do so, in between this week and RQ qualifying, when she'd personally have a nailed on Wimbledon MD WC if she needs it.

She's barely got time, no?

She's got two weeks off after this one and even if she wins this week, she won't have enough points, no?

Given the cut-off is very soon

ADD: just seen this has pretty much been covered already smile

Hon missed some BPs early on, Fran upped the strikerate, and now she's leading 5-0

Another great win for Fran. I think that takes her above Harriet in the rankings.

Indeed, sneaks ahead 630 to 627 in live rankings points, which is apparently live ranked 116 and 117.

Ena beat Fran 4 & 1 at the US Open in 2024 but hopefully it will be different on clay.
