Cam played some amazing tennis in that second set. Great to see him playing so well.

Cam has been playing great tennis against Popyrin and wins the first set on the tie break

This is a late match - 11 pm there - Im guessing it must be quite chilly out there?

Great tenacity from Norrie to take that first set, hard graft. Keeps Popyrin on his BH and fustrates the big man. Cool conditions out there as you say, some fans jogging on the spot between sets.

Sadly I lost the stream and didn't see Cam close it out .. but Popyrin was not having an off day, he was playing well. It's just that Cam's level was even higher than its recent resurgent level

Yes, there were a number of folks trying to cover up to keep warm

QF:  (Q) Cameron Norrie WR 90 defeated (5) Alexei Popyrin (AUS) WR 25 by 7-6(5) 6-4  biggrin

But probably the end of the line for him:

SF:  (Q) Cameron Norrie WR 90 vs (2) Novak Djokovic (SRB) WR 6 (CH = 1 in July 2011)

So pleased to see Cam finding some form again! Especially the ability to close out tough matches, which was what was missing even when his general play got better.

He does have to be admired for the way hes fought back and seems to be getting his game into a better place. To be fair to Djokovic, hes got a comfortable career record against Cam and , probably, clear favourite- but hes , famously, not been having a good run of it and you never know. That said, hes got a title in his sights and it is hard to see him not pushing through on that.

Win this title and youd have to say Djoko is a challenger for the French.

Which makes the whole Djoko and Andy Murray dynamic interesting - it started so well, they seem to be friends and respect each other, but they split and Djoko, seemingly, re gains form. Interesting to understand more about that story - perhaps Andy gave Djoko too much information when Djoko just needed quiet and to figure it out naturally
